NEW KICKSTARTER STRETCH GOALS!

June 18, 2012

We have heard from sooooooo many players of Xeko Island that we have finally decided to bring back the island, if we meet these stretch goals!

If we can get to $350,000, then we will bring back a new version of the Virtual Endangered Animal adoption game. Players adopt an animal, take care of it, and release it into the virtual wild. The animals will be based on the beautiful animals from the Xeko TCG and the lost Xeko Island.

If we can get to $475,000, then we will bring back the entire Island! The technology needs updating, but so many players requested the Island’s return that we’re putting it out there: if we meet this goal, we’ll bring back the lost Xeko Island.

Kickstarter Update #6: Kickstarting the Future of Family-friendly Games & Why I Made Xeko Reason #42

June 8, 2012

Happy Friday!!!! Today we, along with Double Fine, received a SUPER LOVELY writeup on GamerPops (be sure to like, tweet and share the link!) which reminded me of another reason for making Xeko: the need for more organic entertainment (as in delicious, nutritious & high quality). Media is both BRAIN FOOD and SOUL FOOD and currently, we are in a JUNK FOOD world. Blech!

Confession: I enjoy the occasional People and Tatler (don’t tell — only when getting a hair cut, of course…) and Hob Nobs, Swedish fish and extra-crispy french fries. I GET the appeal. What is it they say about moderation, hmm?

Having just returned from E3, in addition to being completely inspired by meeting Tim Schafer (w00t!) I was struck by the amount of blood-and-gore-world-destruction games and dearth of creative-inspiring-world-building games.

I know I’m speaking to the choir on this front, or you wouldn’t be reading this update. However the reality is that blood & gore are easy hooks, first-person shooters make $100′s of millions, and game publishers are risk adverse. So that’s the content that makes it to the marketplace and public at large. It takes time and care to find ‘organic content,’ and most people are too busy or don’t have the means.

Kickstarter is one avenue for getting more BRIGHT content into the world. That’s one of the reasons we love this platform for funding Xeko.

But we can’t do it without your help.

If you agree the world needs more ENGAGING, INSPIRING & RATED-G-FOR-WORLD-CHANGING-GOOD games, give Xeko some backer love and help get out the word to like-minded folks.

Kickstart Xeko!

Kickstart Xeko Today!

YOUR MISSION: Invite a friend (or 3 or 10!) to check out Xeko on Kickstarter and help us grow the Xeko Backer Agent Network. As a special thank you, I will mail you a signed card from my personal collection, if you get two new friends to back Xeko at any level. (Limit first 50.) Just email me, amy [at] xeko.com, with your address and the names of the backers that you referred.

PLEASE – flood my email with new backers! I would like NOTHING better than to get writer’s cramp from signing all of those cards!!! If I run out of cards I will FIND MORE.

S’all for now — have a wonderful weekend & thanks for your support!
